INA Urinj Case Study
January 2020 Spotsie helped track progress and provide insights during a reconstruction project at a local oil refinery. Construction workers were given beacons to wear.
Work was divided between three separate areas. Zone A was an on-site container area, zone B a flat open work space and zone C was in the heart of the refinery where the bulk of the work was done. All three locations were covered with our gateways, placed on strategic locations to maximize signal coverage. As work in zone C had been done on multiple height levels, we placed gateways so to cover the whole height of the structure.
This meant we were able to track vertical displacement as well. During the project we tracked worker circulation between the three different areas and at each instant we knew the exact number of people on each of those sites. This is crucial information in an emergency situation where evacuation is needed, as the rescue and disaster control teams knew exactly where to send help.
Spotsie Cloud continuously performed safety checks on all individual beacons. For example, we tracked suspicious vertical displacements which could indicate a construction worker fall from significant height. Also, we measured continuous inactivity time which is a strong indication of a worker being injured.
All failed safety checks would automatically raise an alarm and notify the health and safety department. From a project management perspective, the number of man-hours at each area is related to the amount of work done.
So by looking at the trends calculated by the Spotsie Cloud, the management team could easily track the project progress and pace. Enabling them to react quicker to potential delays and help them achieve set timelines.
