Leveraging indoor positioning

Leveraging indoor positioning

Nowadays, It’s hard to imagine a world without GPS, a precursor to a new generation of products and services such as Wolt and Uber. Many industries leverage GPS to automate business logistics, improve security, and upgrade user experiences. GPS obviously plays a major role in many businesses and services, but it’s only half of the solution when it comes to location tracking as GPS cannot locate objects inside buildings, underground constructions, or give detailed location information in a localized area.

Spotsie uses Bluetooth low energy devices to track people and assets in buildings and areas not accessible with GPS. We believe that many industries will benefit from indoor location data, and our mission is to make it accessible and easy to integrate with existing products and services.

Finally, you can build location-based features for your end-users, help them navigate around a building, and make meaningful interactions with users based on their indoor location. Or you want to make sure you know where your assets are located at any point in time and automate logistics based on real-time changes in the warehouse.

Produce daily, weekly, monthly reports to get statistical insight into employee efficiency, asset management, and learn about the movement patterns of whatever you’re interested in. Setup triggers or alarms to notify employees and customers of events relevant to their location.

The possibilities are endless, indoor location data is here to unlock new features and make existing ones better.

Integration with Spotsie

Location data is available in real-time and is persisted to a location history which can be accessed through an API or dashboard. Spotsie location API comes in many flavors to match the client architecture or app technology in an effort to enable a frictionless integration with any product.

Spotsie location SDK is available as a native library for Java, Go, Node, Web (javascript), Python, PHP, C#, C++, Ruby, Dart, Objective-C, Kotlin/JVM and Android Java. Alternatively, Spotsie API is also available as an HTTP API with a webhook support for real-time location updates.

Although the decision is up to you, we do recommend the use of native SDK over the HTTP API for the sake of better integration experience and performance.

Native SDK libraries leverage binary serialization to reduce network usage, use HTTP/2 server streaming for real-time location updates, and enforce type safety for statically typed languages.
